Did we say exotic ?

I’d say CHANEL is good with exotic !

Earlier this week we mentioned 2 Australian labels doing pop up shops in “exotic locations” – read our aussie brands pop ot (over there). And we mused that Canada and the UK might not be as exotic as say the Himalayas or downtown Havana…

Nothing wrong with Toronto or London – I say good luck to those guys stepping out in the real, wide world. But in considering “exotic” locations… I think perhaps CHANEL is on the right track with their pop up strategies – choosing out-of-the-ordinary, striking, glamorous (or perhaps just unusual) venues for their temporary stores.

In London they’ve done Covent Garden of course – a stunning pop-up barrow of flowers and perfumes (for Mother’s Day 2013) and then a makeup boutique in May this year.

Also in May… in Delhi CHANEL hosted a pop up shop as the teaser to the opening of a permanent store later this year (their 3rd store for India)

But in France they’ve gone one step further out-of-the-ordinary (but very CHANEL…). They’ve just opened a pop up salon in the pool house of La Mistralee hotel in Saint Tropez – offering their entire spring / summer collection and a selection of limited edition items – such as a terry-towelling beach bag designed by Karl Lagerfeld.
