Kick start your pop up enterprise with $1million !

StartCon Pitch 2018 is nearing it’s end, with $1million funding on offer – what a great way to launch a pop up enterprise !

On 30th November / 1st December finalists in this year’s StartCon Pitch will gather in Sydney for the last round of competition, with AU$1million startup funding being offered to the winner. Over the past couple of months regional finals have been held in 14 cities across south east Asia, giving local start up enterprises the opportunity to pitch their concept. The competition has been aimed at technology startups, looking for “seed to series A funding” – although many of the applicants aren’t just technology-driven. In each city applicants had an initial 2 minutes to present their concept in front of judges and a live audience, progressing to the 2018 finals at StartCon (Randwick Racecourse, 30th November – 1st December)*

The prize isn’t actually $1million in cash, and isn’t guaranteed… the grand final winner will still have to present to the funding partners (and I suppose enter into agreements… the capital issuers do expect a portion of equity)

Okay, so this won’t be appropriate for every start up / pop up enterprise, but might interest a few budding businesses… It’s probably too late to enter this year’s Pitch – but this could be worth watching for 2019. The StartCon conference (formerly Sydstart)# has been running for 9 years, and this year expanded the StartCon Pitch competition to 8 Australian and a further 6 south-east Asian cities. The Melbourne Pitch was held yesterday (14th November), hosted by RMIT University’s Activator program#
