What’s a pop up beach ?
Here today and (might be) gone tomorrow – a typical pop up appearance…
This is something a bit different in the world of pop ups (hey, we love it when something really does arrive unplanned, almost overnight !) Eastern-suburb locals in Sydney have enjoyed the rare appearance of a sandy beach at Mackenzie’s Bay (just north of Tamarama) – usually just a stretch of rocky outcrops frequented by body-boarders and un-leashed dogs (with their owners). The temporary beach only seems to pop up every 7 years or so, for as long as the ocean swell allows a build of sand on the rock – and can be washed away again in just one storm.
News.com.au and the Daily Telegraph ran articles on the pop up beach at Mackenzie’s Bay 3 weeks ago… I wonder if the beach is still there today ?
