Hand made pop up in Brunswick
You might not expect leather, cotton and ceramics to complement each other, but in this store they seem to fit like a glove…
We’ve discussed the concept of pop up collaborations before – combining products and styles from different businesses, adding to the interest and attraction of a pop up. Offering a variety of stock within the store isn’t unique… most retailers provide a carefully-chosen mix of complementary products and styles to enhance the shopping experience (and increase the opportunities for sales). But pop ups tend to curate their collections a little differently – sometimes with quirky and un-expected results. Perhaps because there is an element of risk-taking when a pop up opens… or maybe it’s just the new energy, enthusiasm and a sense of intrigue that allow some combinations to work so well together !
Two creative Australian businesses have just popped up with a common theme of natural and hand made products… the result is a fresh and vibrant mix of colours and textures. Melbourne-based Georgia On My Mind offers a range of cotton muslin resort wear, Greek leather sandals and accessories, whilst the Sydney studio of Samantha Robinson creates superb porcelain pieces. Both businesses have other outlets (Georgia is online and stockists across Australia, Samantha has her own boutiques)… and for the next few months they’ll be popping together in Brunswick.
