Here’s more pop up shops around Melbourne !

This week has seen the opening of even more pop up shops around Melbourne, all of them happily stepping up to the spirit (and madness !) of Christmas shopping…

Today (Friday) and tomorrow Light & Co are hosting their 1st ever pop up shop – “perfect timing for those last minute gifts for family and friends, or sorting out your present-wrapping dilemmas…” Light & Co are suppliers of craft items… papers, tapes, pom-poms, string and all kinds of gifty baubles (they offer around 1500 items in their Etsy store) – there’s also a range of jewellery especially hand-crafted for the pop up. Open Friday 12th (830am to 6pm) and Saturday 13th (830am to 4pm) only, at 77 Church Street Hawthorn (hey, that address was one of the pop up locations we mentioned a while back, at popUPshopsMelbourne !)

Opening tomorrow (Saturday), the Space Invaders pop-up project will feature around 20 local contributors (artists, makers and designers), and promises to be a “rocking retail space” in East Brunswick (it’s above a bar… yes, you can have a drink while you’re shopping… Space Invaders call that “a win-win” !). Products include handmade gifts – ceramics, clothing and textiles, jewellery and accessories, chocolates and soaps, designer lighting and furniture items. This event will be open over both days of the next 2 weekends (13th &14th and 20th & 21st December) from 2 till 7pm, also on Thursday 18th December between 5 and 8pm. In The Alderman Gallery (above The Alderman Bar) at 134 Lygon Street East Brunswick.

this (design & living) are the Australian distributors of Danish homewares brand Tine K Home (by Tine Kjeldsen) – offering “a lifestyle story from ceramics and glass to cushion, textiles, furniture and even Moroccan lanterns and antique items…” They’ve already opened the doors of their pop up store at 163 Williams Road South Yarra (Hawksburn, that’s just off Malvern Road) – offering a minimum 50% off everything ! Trading now ‘til 24th December – from 10am daily.

Also already open is the Sia boutique pop up in the CBD… they’ve been retailing women’s fashion in Coventry Street South Melbourne for around 16 years, but this is their first pop up venture. Now at 555 Bourke Street Melbourne (corner of William Street) ‘till December 23rd.

Sia has a few pop up neighbours in The St James Retail Centre (555 Bourke Street) – we mentioned Sorry Thanks I Love You last weekend but there’s also TOMS (shoes and sunglasses, once again in a joint venture with the Wise Foundation), il Migliore (“gourmet biscuits, produce, hampers and gifts”) and Melbourne-based shoe brand Rollie. All open daily from 10am ‘til 5pm or later during the week (?) – not sure about their weekend hours…

Finally… starting on 17th December and running up ‘til Christmas (at least, maybe longer…), The Snug will be back again with another pop up at 477 High Street Northcote. Watch their Facebook page for more details…
