HoMie needs a pop up home
The Homeless of Melbourne organisation needs your help – they’re looking for a pop up location.
3 good Melbourne friends have joined together to offer support to our homeless population… planning to open a pop up shop selling T-shirts and designer clothing, passing on the profits to local homeless services.
Homeless of Melbourne started their Facebook community page last year, telling the personal stories of people they meet around our city streets – some of them surviving solo, others with partners and friends to support… each with a heart-breaking tale.
They recently ran a Pozible crowdsourcing campaign, aiming for a modest $10,000 to launch their pop up store concept. The campaign was a success… pledging $12,277 from 268 supporters (including one anonymous contribution of $2500 !). Along with other donors they have secured over $20,000.
The team are now looking for a Melbourne CBD location to host a 3 month pop up – it will be manned by volunteers as a retail outlet during the day, then open up to homeless people to receive food and care packages, clothing and support services after hours.

As Marcus from Homeless of Melbourne says… “we define a homie as someone who looks out for others….” Can anyone suggest a CBD location for the HoMie pop up ?
