Max pops up at home
The Motorcycle Adventures of Farlap and Max – the tale of an extraordinary journey
Initially I thought this is not quite a pop up – but then re-considered… If organisers ask us to mention an event and they call it pop up… why not ? After all, if a “pop up shop” can run for 6 months (or more), why can’t a pop up exhibition open for just one evening ?
In 2011 Max Wellington took off from London on a motorbike (not just any old ‘bike, she was his “two-wheeling girlfriend for 3 years”) – collecting stories, images and treasures along the way. Tomorrow night (Thursday) the story will unfold… The exhibition is not just about Max’s global adventures – it is also part of his Kickstarter campaign to bring “The Adventures of Farlap and Maximos” (the book) to life !
As I wrote this article all sorts of questions came to mind… is marvellous Max a local Melbourne guy (yes), will he be there on Thursday night (I think so…), is Farlap another person or the motorbike or what (she’s a BMW F650), has Max been in for a bit of a trim lately (um, maybe not !)
What – A pop up exhibition featuring never-before-seen video footage, photos and artefacts from Max Wellington’s adventure across the world. The night will include drinks, international music, raffle prizes and the opportunity for “an intimate look into his life-changing motorcycle journey”.
When – Thursday, February 6th, 6:30 to 9pm
Where – NEST Coworking, 829a High Street. Thornbury
The other bits – free entry and complimentary drinks !
