Pop up with a purpose
These pop up markets aim to support and empower women.
Over the next couple of months the Ashburton Community Centre will host a series of pop up markets in support of SisterWorks – a Melbourne-based organisation whose “goal is to encourage women to tap into their underlying business and entrepreneurial abilities to find self-sufficiency”*
The pop ups aim to offer a source of income to women who are refugee, asylum seeker or immigrant from non-English speaking backgrounds. Many of the products on sale have been designed and created by the women themselves – handbags and accessories, jewellery and toys, cards and portraits…
The Ashburton Community Centre is also looking for others to join in – they’d welcome any enquiries from locals offering similar craft or gift products (especially leading up to Christmas…) – contact Janine by email.
See “Save the Date” (below) for details of the markets running through to December !
