talking pop up at the gift fair

Everyone-who’s-anyone in the gift & homewares industry knows it’s THAT time of year again…

This week sees the start of a gift and homewares buying frenzy, with trade-only exhibitions spread across 3 major venues in Melbourne. Hundreds (thousands ?) of wholesalers, importers and designers will showcase their products to retailers, distributors and agents. The main Gift Fair event runs over 5 days from Saturday… it can take that long for some buyers to get around all the halls !

As an added attraction for visitors (and a chance to rest weary feet…), Reed Exhibitions will be hosting free educational sessions each day. Their Retail Hub presentations will offer the “latest tips, advice and case studies on Retail Fundamentals, Customer Service, Visual Merchandising and Social Media”… eleven “retail hub experts” will present a series of informal seminars in the Future Brands Pavilion at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

Headlining the Retail Hub sessions will be Tara Dennis (television design and lifestyle personality) with her tips and trends for the upcoming season, and Debra Templar – also well-known as a leading retail consultant and business coach.

popUPshopsMelbourne (me…Scott Williams…The Pop Up Guy) will be presenting on “Opportunities that POP UP for RETAIL”. The session blurb reads : “Expand your retail experience with pop up shops to gain maximum exposure. Pop up shops can be a great way to reach new customers and trial new concepts… many retailers are applying pop up strategies and enjoying the benefits of short-term installations…”
