The Block pops up in Prahran
Channel 9’s reality TV show The Block has opened a pop-up shop, as work continues on their latest residential conversion…
The Block Shop is just one of the challenges put to teams busy converting a Prahran office building – they had only a couple of week’s notice to prepare the shop whilst also renovating their own apartments. The pop up will be open for one week whilst building works continue above and around them – in addition to their own renovation projects the contestants are now on a roster to man the shop, meet with customers and fans (and sell the range of homewares). Only a few days ago the space was still an empty shell – but quite hurriedly (at the typical Block fast-pace) walls were built, flooring laid, a shopfront installed, the interior painted and coffee counter delivered… by this morning it had been transformed to a neat and stylish retail store.
Two of the teams have been given their own space to merchandise stock, whilst the other contestants share the remaining shelving and walls – all items for sale have been sourced, priced and displayed by the individual teams. The pop up shop is part of a Retail Therapy challenge set by the show’s producer – the team with the highest profit will receive $5000 towards their renovation budget.
